Now that I've had a loss, what should I do?

1. STOP FURTHER DAMAGE (see tips below)
2. REPORT A LOSS (Call our office at 417-739-4900 or the company claims office number shown on your insurance policy or vehicle proof of insurance ID card.)

Auto

  • Assess and manage any injuries immediately.
  • Activate your hazard lights.
  • Be sure the local authorities are contacted. Do not move your vehicle unless requested by the authorities or you have taken pictures of the accident.
  • Stay at the scene until the authorities arrive.
  • Secure a police report number, if available, and the responding officers' agency (ie city, county or state patrol).
  • Obtain information from all parties involved. Include names, addresses, phone numbers, and other insurance carrier with policy number. Obtain any witness information if available.
  • Do not discuss the accident with anyone other than the authorities and your agent or claims representative.
  • Report your claim immediately to your agent or your claims service center.

Property

  • Take any necessary precautions to protect your property and to prevent further damage. Keep all receipts of expenses incurred for temporary repairs.
  • If possible, secure photographs of the damage before any temporary repairs are made.
  • Report your claim immediately to your agent or your claims service center.

Worker's Compensation

  • Regardless of the severity of the injury, state statute holds that all injury claims must be reported promptly.
